What is Nightlife United?

Nightlife United (NU) is an action and advocacy group created by and for the NYC Nightlife Community. NU was born at the height of COVID-19 out of the need to support and center small, independently-owned businesses that enrich the culture of nightlife in NYC. Nightlife United has raised over 200k in funds and resources - not only for venues but also for the artists, producers, and employees that work at them with a primary focus on supporting BIPOC-owned and led businesses who create safe spaces for BIPOC and the LGBTQIA communities.

Vision: An equitable rich nightlife culture in NYC that not only survives closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but is able to reopen as a stronger, healthier, and more creative community.

Core Values:

  • A Diverse, inclusive, and vibrant Nightlife scene is essential for the cultural well-being of NYC.

  • Independently-owned venues provide a livelihood for the artists, musicians, and entrepreneurs that make up NYC’s creative class.

  • Black and brown-owned and led businesses and business owners face unique challenges around financing, support, and access to resources and must be centered.

  • Safe spaces that are inclusive of everyone and center LGBTQIA, Black and brown folks are necessary across the nightlife spectrum.

  • Spaces that focus on equitable and ethical labor practices that foster and respect the talents of artists and creatives must exist in order to keep NYC’s nightlife and music culture healthy.

Is Nightlife United a non-profit?

Yes. Nightlife United functions as a not-for-profit. We are not an independently registered 501c3 and therefore use Unique Projects as a fiscal sponsor.

What is Unique Projects?

Unique Projects is a fiscal sponsorship program that allows artists and projects to access certain benefits of a tax-exempt organization, including tax-deductible donations for individual donors, applying for funding from government grant makers, foundations and corporations, and access to Materials for The Arts.

How can I support the cause?

You can support the fund with a monetary donation. All donations are fully tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. You can also help us spread the word to your network. The ultimate goal is to help as many people as possible.

Can my donation be of any size?

All donations made through Nightlife United website are unrestricted. Again, we are trying to help as many people as possible.
